Eyebrows

The eyebrows are a very important feature of the face. They form a frame for the eyes.

Each individual's eyebrows are unique. The proper shape, balance and colour of the eyebrows will open up the eye area and give a more youthful appearance.

Eye-lining

Correctly applied eyeliner will enhance the shape of the eyes and give the appearance of more eyelashes. Eyeliner opens up the eye area, adds more colour and gives more definition to the eye shape.

Lip-lining, Lip Blend, Full Lip Colour

The Micro-pigmentation procedure gives more definition to the lip-line. The colour choice can be soft and natural or darker so creating a more defined line.

The lip blend takes colour further into the lip from the lip-line. It is ideal if wanting a bit more colour than just a line.

The full lip colour is perfect if your natural lip colour has faded. This treatment is excellent for women who find it annoying losing their lipstick during an important function, while on holiday or any time. The full lip colour gives definition to the lip line as well as giving colour over the whole lip area.

Areola/Nipple and other uses for Micro-pigmentation

Micro-pigmentation can also be used for paramedical procedures such as re-pigmentation of areola/nipple after reconstructive surgery.

Pigment implantation can also be used for loss of hair from Alopecia, chemotherapy, radiotherapy or accidents. Colour correction for cosmetic make-up procedure mistakes or pigment fade out to undesired colour. Also correction of shape is possible in most cases.

As in other New Zealand industries, there are those operators who repreesnt themselves as able to perform Micro-pigmentation procedures. Carol is generally able to "repair" the mistakes of these operators - and has been called upon to do so many times!

Consultation

If you are unsure if Micro-pigmentation is for you, have a free consultation with Carol to discuss your particular needs. Knowing all the facts will give you the confidence to proceed with this time saving procedure when you feel ready.

The Cost of Micro-pigmentation Procedures

The cost depends on the area being treated, amount of pigment used, equipment, topical anaesthetic, other materials used during the procedure, operating costs of rent, etc., the time the treatment takes and the skill of the operator. There will be two treatments initially. From then on only one touch-up visit should be necessary to keep the colour intensity as needed. The time between touch-up visits varies greatly from one person to another.

The second visit is generally two months after the first. This second visit is very important. It may be that the colour has stayed really well in the skin and a second treatment may not be necessary so soon, but good to check so both you as the client and Carol feel happy with the whole result. For most clients the second visit is a chance to have more added to a particular area to further enhance the feature. The colour may have healed too light this will generally be because the client wanted a light colour for the first treatment or the skin rejected the pigment.

The cost of the treatments is as follows:

The treatment time allows for the consultation, drawing the shape, choosing the correct colour, filling out the contract, treatment time, after care and home care instructions. The visit times stated above are the maximum allowed as the time necessary to complete a procedure can vary between clients.

Discomfort Factor

Topical Anaesthetics developed especially for the use of Micro-pigmentation are used before and during the whole procedure time. It must be remembered that there is a variance of pain tolerance between people. Some discomfort has to be expected. Other factors that may affect our discomfort levels are tiredness, menstruation and stress.

Recovery Time

The healing of the skin for all cosmetic make-up procedures except the full lip creation will take an average of seven days. During the healing process of all the procedures there will generally be a thirty to forty per cent colour loss as the pigment heals from the epidermal layer of the skin. Some clients will lose more and some less. You will be given After-care instructions on completion of the procedure.

Tattguard™ is a healing product specifically made to assist with the healing of Micro-pigmentation procedures. It is made of natural ingredients. To get the maximum benefit from Tattguard, apply to the treated area at least three to four times per day until healed. Healing is very individual but generally takes seven to ten days.

Permanency of Micro-pigmentation

The permanency of Micro-pigmentation procedures depends on the skin's ability to absorb the pigment, the health of the skin and the pigment colour implanted. Fading of the pigments could also be influenced by Medication, skin care products, some skin conditions and life style.

As aging is a continual process of natural lightening of the skin and hair, the fading rate of the pigments gives the opportunity to change the pigment colour if necessary with each re-touch, to suit the skin and hair colour changes. If the pigments did not fade gradually, dark coloured eyebrows on a twenty or thirty year old may look great, but by the age of fifty or sixty would not be at all flattering.
